A device (10) working as a hydraulic transformer is proposed which, to intensify the pressure of an outlet flow, has an oscillating intensifier piston (24) hydraulically driven by an inlet flow. The intensifier piston (24) projects plunger-like with its two ends (25, 26) in each case into a housing chamber (19, 21). The housing chambers (19, 21) are each divided into outer working chambers (28, 33) and inner pump chambers (29, 34) by diaphragm-like dividing walls (27, 32) fastened to the ends. Both ends (25, 26), via mechanical couplings (55) with idle stroke (56), drive spools (59, 58) of coaxially arranged 3/2-way valves (51, 57) which reverse the intensifier piston (24). When the intensifier piston (24) is oscillating, partial flows pulsating in an alternating manner and having an intensified pressure level can be tapped at the outlets (38, 39) connected to the pump chambers (29, 34). <IMAGE>
