Date Jul. 3, 1986.The invention relates to an electric double layer capacitor in which a metallic piece for a case at the side of an anode is formed with an aluminum layer. The aluminum layer has an electrochemically stable anodized film according to an applied voltage and has so low a resistance as not to present any practical problem. This property is effectively utilized to impart a breakdown voltage not less than 3 V to the capacitor.
