The invention relates to a method and an installation for evacuating the atmosphere from vacuum vessels, especially from cathode ray tubes or television tubes, in the case of which method and installation a vacuum vessel is moved into at least one workstation, is heated up in a controlled manner in this workstation and is at the same time evacuated as well as being sealed on reaching a predetermined temperature, and in the case of which method and installation the evacuated vacuum vessel is cooled down after the heating has been switched off. In order to increase the yield of evacuated vacuum vessels with a relatively high level of energy saving and while maintaining high quality of the evacuated vacuum vessels, the heating up and evacuation of the vacuum vessels in the workstation is carried out in a thermal container which, after the vacuum vessel has been evacuated and sealed, is moved without being opened into a physically separately arranged cooling station, where the cooling down takes place with the extracted heat energy being reused. |
