Method and arrangements for transferring the threading band R that is separated from the edge of paper web W from the flat-surface 44 roll 40 of the press to the drying part. During transfer a roll surface 71 or a belt surface 90 is used, which is driven in the advance direction of the threading with a speed v' that is essentially the same as the peripheral velocity v of roll surface 44 from which the threading band R is loosened. The roll or belt surface 71, 90 forms, together with press roll surface 44, a slightly loaded transfer nip NS at the transfer site. The transfer surfaces 71, 90 are arranged to run through transfer nip NS in the opposite direction relative to roll surface's 44 direction of motion v. The threading band R is loosened at said transfer nip NS from the press roll surface 44 and fed from the transfer nip NS on transfer surface 71, 90 to drying wire 60 or the line gap KK of the drying part. <IMAGE>
