[Class 74 (ii)] A pattern - wheel of the kind having elements or bits movable by hand to and from an operative position is so arranged that the displacement of the bits is axial or substantially so. The wheel comprises a hub 1 mounted on an inclined or vertical spindle 25 and, attached thereto by screws 2, 23, a tricked annular body 3 and a gear wheel 22. A bit 5 is housed in each trick 4. Each bit consists of a flat strip with a pointed offset tip 5<x> and semicircular notches 11 for reception of a spring ring 9 in either position. The shoulders 5<c> of the bits that are in use may rest on the top edge of an annular casing 6 secured to the body 3. As shown in Fig. 2, the tricks 4b may be inclined to the axis of the wheel. The bits may be held in place by a clamping ring. Other modifications are described. |
