The head contains a core, consisting of two parts forming a transmission gap, and made of spinel-ferrite, viz. a zinc ferrous ferrite. The ferrite pref. has the compsn. Zn(a) Fe(1-a) Fe' (2) 0 (4) where 1=0.1 to 0.4; Fe' refers to divalent iron, whereas Fe refers to trivalent iron. The ferrite may contain divalent cobalt forming Co. 0.1% of the metal ions. The ferrite is pref. monocrystalline; and the core pref. has a max. thickness of 0.2mm. The invention provides a ferrite with a satn. magnetisation exceeding 5000 gauss, and therefore superior to similar conventional cores; it also has a higher wear resistance then sendust. |
