The storage accommodation (2) consists of at least one and pref. four, tunnels running radially and horizontally from the shaft (1), in which are one or more tanks (3), pref. of steel, for the condensed natural gas. - The tanks are connected by pipes through the shaft with the cooling, compressing and pumping unit (4). They are insulated with a layer (5) of suitable material, pref. perlite, fitted between the tank exterior and the tunnel wall. The thickness of the insulation is such as to be consistent with a storage temp. of at the lowest -40 deg. C. |
