NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R<1> is amino which may be acylated or protected; R<2> is hydrocarbon group or heterocyclic group which may be substituted; n is 0-2), its ester or salt. EXAMPLE:(5RS,7S)-3-( 2-acetamidoethylthio )-7-(2-thienylacetamido)-8-oxo-1-azabi cyclo[2,3,0]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid sodium salt. USE:It has antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria and is useful as a remedy for infectious diseases of mammals or dis infectant for operation tools and ward. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II (R<1>' is R<1>; X is eliminable group, R<22> is H or carboxylic acid ester) with a compound of formula III (R<2>' is R<2>) and, if necessary, converting R<1>', R<2>' and R<22>.
