PURPOSE:To remove the mud respectively adhered to ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving cones by shaking-off, by mounting a vibration apparatus for applying vibration to one of the ultrasonic transmitting and receiving cones in an action freely releasable manner. CONSTITUTION:On a transmitting side, an ultrasonic wave transmitter 1 is connected to a drive circuit 2 and the ultrasonic wave emitted from the circuit 2 is guided by a transmitting cone 3 to be transmitted. On a receiving side, the ultrasonic wave recovered by a receiving cone 5 is received by an ultrasonic wave receiving circuit 4 and the electric signal generated in said circuit 4 is amplified by a preamplifier 6 to be sent to a measuring and control part 7. When the manually operable oscillation manipulator 12 connected to the measuring and control part 7 is operated, the first oscillation circuit 9 and a measuring switch 13 are cut off to stop measuring operation and the cleaning switch 14 of the second oscillation circuit 11 is closed to change over both oscillators 10, 10 to an acting state. At the same time, the electric pulse for oscillating the cones set to an amplitude larger than that of a measuring electric pulse is applied to both oscillators 10, 10 from the second oscillation circuit 11 at frequency lower than that of the measuring electric pulse.
