PURPOSE:To automate the transportation of a magazine and to prevent the mixing of an inferior IC package into a good product, by detecting the presence of a residual IC package on the way of the automatic transportation of an empty magazine to a discharge side. CONSTITUTION:When no IC package remains in a magazine, a sprocket 2 is rotated by the rotation of a motor 3 and a magazine support part 15 having the magazine 32 at a residual package detection position C carried thereon moves to a magazine discharge position F with the downward movement of the block 7 fixed to a chain 4. During the movement of the support part 15 to the position F, the magazine 32 falls to the empty magazine set position not shown in a drawing on a discharge side. When the IC package remains in the magazine 32, the magazine 32 at the position C moves to a magazine left-and-right feed position B by the rotation of a rotary actuator 8 and moves to a magazine recovery position D by the rotation of the motor 3. During this time, the magazine 32 impinges against an IC package residual magazine recovery hook 29 and the magazine 32 separated from the support part 15 falls to be recovered.
