PURPOSE:To detect an azimuth in a wide band with a high gain and good accuracy, by measuring the arrival azimuth phase difference between rotatable element antennae of a high gain and wide band. CONSTITUTION:Element antennae 1c, 1d arranged at an interval (d) are mounted on a rotary mechanism 5 and revolved to set the azimuths thereof and an approximate azimuth is detected from said set azimuths. When both of the main beam directions of the antennae 1c, 1d are set to angle theta1, a detailed azimuth is detected from the phase difference between the receiving waves in the angle theta1+theta2 direction at this time. By this method, an azimuth can be detected in a wide band over an entire periphery with a high gain and good accuracy.
