PURPOSE:To improve the manufacturing efficiency of a hollow pipe by arranging the heating device surrounding a hollow round billet under forging stage and effecting forging in order with heating or heat-reserving one part in the axial direction of a billet. CONSTITUTION:The heating device 8 having a tunnel type structure at the feeding side of a hollow pipe stock 7, i.e., at the front of dies 2, 3 is arranged. A mandrel 9 is inserted into the insertion hole 13 of a pipe stock 7 and held by the tongue levers 25, 26 of a manipulator 15, then, the manipulator 15 is advanced to set the pipe stock 7 inside the heating device 8. After setting the pipe stock 7 to a forging press 6, the pipe stock 7 prior to forming or under forming is heated by the heating device 8 and the press 6 is driven to effect a forged forming by the dies 2, 3. Due to the pipe stock 7 being heated at the optimum temp. the forming efficiency is improved to prevent the crack of the pipe stock 7. The manufacturing efficiency of the hollow pipe is thus improved.
