PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of fluffs and loops due to squeezes by slanting a yarn introducing surface on the front end of a traverse guide in the proceeding direction of yarn. CONSTITUTION:When a yarn Y is traversed by a traverse guide 2, a force F works by the tension of yarn Y, while a yarn introducing surface 2a at the front end of the guide 2 is slanted a slant angle theta in the proceeding direction so that the component F1 of the force works toward the front end of guide 2. And as the guide 2 is moved from the center portion of traverse to the end, the force F is increased and the components F1, F2 thereof are increased. Thus, the yarn Y begins to move along a groove 1 in the guide 2 toward the front end to produce a rotational force on a single yarn of yarn Y in the direction a so that the single yarn is moved in the direction b and arranged in the groove 1 approximately in a row. As a result each single yarn will uniformly share the tension without giving strong squeezes to only specified single yarns to prevent the occurrence of fluffs and loops.
