PURPOSE:To permit varying of the position of laser light which scans on a printing medium while the relative positions of a scanning optical part and the printing medium are held fixed by providing a movable reflecting mirror between the scanning optical part and the printing medium and moving the position of the reflecting mirror by the driving power of a driving device. CONSTITUTION:The laser light 2 emitted from a semiconductor laser 1 is changed in direction by the rotation of a rotary polyhedral mirror 5 to scan between A and A' on a photosensitive drum 8 via a condenser lens 6 and the reflecting mirror 7. The laser 1 is subjected repeatedly to light emission and stop by a modulator according to printing information. As a result, the information is recorded between A and A' on the drum 8 and thereafter, the processings such as developing, transferring and fixing are performed. The scanning position of the laser light on the drum moves to the position shown by a broken line between D and D' when a shaft 9 fixed to the mirror 7 is slightly rotated by the driving power of the driving device. Furthermore, the recording is carried out by controlling the time for starting the recording of the scanning laser light and correcting the position with respect to the inclination of paper.
