PURPOSE:To produce an oxygen ion conductive material capable of providing wider selectivity in designing a material for oxygen sensors, etc. by specifying atomic ratio of Bi, Sr, Te, and O atoms. CONSTITUTION:The title compound oxide is tetrabismuth tristrontium- pentaterulium compound oxide expressed by Bi4Sr3Te5O17. The compound oxide is produced by mixing each powder of Bi2O3, SrCO3, and TeO2 in 2:3:5 molar ratio, and calcining the mixture at near 800 deg.C. The compound oxide has a rhombohedral crystal shape and laminar structure exhibiting oxygen ion conductivity. Therefore, a novel compd. useful as an oxygen superior conductive material is provided therewith, and wider selectivity is realized in the material design for oxygen sensor, etc.
