PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized calcium ion sensor which is not affected by impurities by mounting luminescent protein and photodetecting means within a light shielding vessel. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. of bovine serum albumin dissolved with 'Eccrione(R)' as luminescent protein is dropped onto a photodetecting surface 21 of a silicon photodetecting element 2 as the photodetecting means and further an aq. glutaraldehyde soln. is dropped thereon to fix the 'Eccrione(R)' as a gel-like fixed film 11. This silicon photodetecting element 2 is mounted in the light shielding vessel 3 made of an epoxy resin. An inflow port 31 for a specimen is provided on the light shielding vessel 3. If calcium ion is contained in the specimen, the 'Eccrione(R)' 465nm light and, therefore, this light is detected by the silicon photodetecting element 2.
