PURPOSE:To eliminate manual operation and to perform secure processing by setting information on the number of members, the number of records, and the number of blocks in a control record when a sequential file is generated, and calculating the necessary capacity for a library to be outputted from said information and copying it in the library. CONSTITUTION:A means 1 sets the information on the number of members, the number of records, and the number of blocks outputted to the sequential file 8 in the control record positioned at the tail of the file and when the sequential file 8 copied from the library 6 is copied in a library 9 again, a means 3 inputs the control record unless the library 9 is present so as to obtain the information on the set numbers of members, records, and blocks. A means 4 calculates the capacity of the library 9 required to copy the file 8 from the information and secures the library 9 of the capacity and a means 5 copies the file. Consequently, misses originating from manual operation are reduced and accurate processing is performed.
