PURPOSE:To obtain the title polyamide excellent in thermoformability, heat resistance and chemical resistance, by introducing a sodium atom into a wholly aromatic polyamide and subjecting the product to an N-substitution reaction. CONSTITUTION:A sodium atom is introduced into a wholly aromatic polyamide obtained by reacting a diamine with a dicarboxylic acid chloride in the presence of ammonia and sodium, and the product is subjected to an N-substitution reaction with a propargyl halide, an alkyl halide or an aralkyl halide to obtain a curable wholly aromatic polyamide consisting of repeating units of formulas II and/or II (wherein X, Y and Z are composed of 0-95mol.% H, 3-90mol.% propargyl groups and 2-97mol.% groups of formulas III and/or IV (wherein Ar1-3 are each a bivalent aromatic group, 1<=n<=30, 1<=m<=6, and Ar4 is an aromatic group of any one of formulas V-VII, etc.).
