PURPOSE:To alter a character font contained in printing data or divide the data into characters and images to obtain a stencil printing press capable of altering a character font, by a method wherein, a control part serves as an interface between a host machine and a stencil printing press, a character code in printing data from the host machine is discriminated, while a required character font is selected from a memory part to be outputted and printed. CONSTITUTION:A central control part 21 controls an action timing as a whole. A control part 22 serves as an interface with a host machine 1 and inputs printing data. With the input of the printing data from the host machine 1 through the control part 22, a discriminating part 23 discriminates a character code in the printing data and separates image data. The discriminated output is sent to a next step, i.e. a selecting part, which selects a desired character font from character fonts stored in a memory part 25 and outputs it to an output part 26. The output part outputs the character data and required image data to a printing part 27, which conducts printing. In this manner, a printing satisfying the purpose of use of a printed matter can be carried out.
