PURPOSE:To suppress the stress of a stem pin and prevent the damage of a cathode-ray tube by sealing a stem section and the neck section of a glass bulb then heating and annealing the vicinity of the sealed section with a heater at the same location. CONSTITUTION:An electron gun 4 fitted with a stem section 2 is fitted to a positioning support bed 6 then arranged in the neck section 1a of a glass bulb 1. These stem section 2 and neck section 1a are preheated and sealed with a sealing device provided with a heater 7. They are then annealed with the heater 7 provided on the sealing device at the same location. The quick reduction of temperature due to the transfer can be thereby prevented, and the stress of the sealed section is reliably dissolved. The transfer work is reduced because no transfer is required from the sealing device to an annealing device, and the damage accident resulting from the transfer is suppressed.
