PURPOSE:To obtain the title fine powder having excellent dispersibility and oxidation resistance by adding a reducing agent to a soln. consisting of a copper salt, a tartrate, and an alkali hydroxide to reduce the copper salt. CONSTITUTION:(A) A bivalent copper salt, preferably cupric chloride, cupric acetate, copper sulfate, etc., and (B) a tartrate such as potassium tartrate and Rochelle salt are dissolved in water so that the copper concn. in the A component is controlled to 0.01-0.5mol. concn. and the concn. of the B component is controlled to 1-5 times the copper concn. (C) an alkali hydroxide such as NaOH and KOH is added to the soln. to control the pH to 12-14. (D) Formaldehyde is added to the soln. as the copper reducing agent so that the molar concn. is controlled to 1-5 times that of the copper in one minute, the copper salt is reduced at 70-95 deg.C, and the title powder having a (111) face and having 0.5-5mu particle size is obtained.
