PURPOSE:To protect a disk and a magnetic head by acting the energy of a first elastic member to the head with the aid of a driving means and acting the energy of a second elastic member to the head wit the aid of the non- operation of the driving means or the reverse driving of it. CONSTITUTION:A coil spring 21 is stretched between a spring hanging part 13a provided with a driving lever 13 and a spring hanging part 115 provided with a chassis 1. By the stretching power of this spring, the driving lever 13 is abutted on a head carriage 2 and energized in the direction of depressing the carriage 2. Then, when a head access instruction is cancelled and the electrification to a solenoid 41 is interrupted, the holding by the solenoid 41 is gone and the driving lever is rotated by the energizing force of the spring 21. Besides, the energizing force of the spring 21 acts the head carriage 2. Therefore the lever 13 depresses the head carriage 2 until a stopper 13b abuts on the chassis 1 and turns it. Accompanied with that, the magnetic head 50 is separated to a shunting position which is distant from the disk. Thus the disk and the head can be protected.
