A device for drilling holes, in particular at predetermined distances for example for wooden dowels, has a tool head (1, 23, 29-35, 39, 51) inside which is arranged at least one rotationally mounted drill (3, 40, 41, 42) which can be displaced axially against the force of a spring. The drill can be slid out of the tool head over a supporting surface (46, 52). The drill is driven and advanced by a separate drive motor (10, 44), independent of the device, in particular an electric hand screwing machine whose screw insert (9) engages in a coupling part of the drill designed as a screw head (8, 38). Several drills (40, 41, 42) mounted in this fashion can be combined in one tool head (39). A distance template in the form of a measuring tape (12) which can be locked can also be incorporated in the tool head (1). Several devices can be assembled in one unit.
