Polymeric dye of formula [-Ar-N+(X-)H=C(R1)-CH(R2)-(C(R3)= C(R4))x- C(R5)=NH- n or its film having conductivity of 10-3/ohm.cm at 23 deg.C and relative humidity 0% are new. Where Ar is an aromatic part of aromatic polyamine, R1 and R2 are H, C1-4 alkyl, Ph, C7-12 aralkyl, C7-12 alkaryl or C5-8 cycloalkyl independently, R2, R3 and R4 are H, C1-3 alkyl or halogen independently, X is O or 1-3 integer. Prepd. dye is useful for optical recording.
