Use of one or more of the terpene derivatives dihydrocarveol [2-methyl-5-(1- methylethenyl)cyclohexanol]; dihydrocarvone [2-methyl-5- (1-methylethenyl)cyclohexanone]; piperitol [3-methyl-6-(1- methylethyl)-2-cyclohexen-1-ol]; piperitone [3-methyl-6- (1-methylethyl)-2-cyclohexen-1-one]; and isopulegol [5- methyl-2-(1-methylethenyl)cyclohexanol] and/or of cinnamaldehyde (3-phenyl-2-propenal) as the active component in arthropod-repelling agents having an especially good effect against flies and ticks.
