A buckle for tying straps, having a basic body (2) which has a base plate (4) with a window-like opening (6) and bent sections (5) at two mutually opposite edges, and having two looping webs assigned to the basic body and arranged perpendicular to the pulling direction of the strap, the ends of the strap protruding into the opening in each case with a loop and engaging around the associated wrapping web, and the two wrapping webs being formed by the limbs (11, 12) of a U-shaped bar (3), the one limb (11) being inserted laterally so as to be pivotable in opposite bearing holes (8) in the bent sections (5), and the other limb (12) being pivotable into opposite entry slots (9) in the bent sections (5), said entry slots being open at the edge and ending with spacing from the base plate (4). <IMAGE>
