A GYROSTABILIZED STRUCTURE IN PARTICULAR A SUPPORT STRUCTURE FOR THE MONING MIRROR OF A PANORAMIC PERISCOPE SIGHT

A structure supporting a mirror comprises two frames which are mobile in elevation and azimuth. Motors drive the respective frames to orientate the mirror. The azimuth frame supports a gyroscopic wheel which has two degrees of freedom ensured by a universal joint comprising two crossed frames. Detectors sense the axis w.r.t. the azimuth frame and precession motors apply procession torque to the wheel. Signals from the detectors enable the axis orientation of the wheel to be determined w.r.t. the demand axis. Signals for elevation and azimuth are introduced by the operator for processing by electronic circuits.
