In the continuous production of sandwich elements, which comprise a foam core (30) and, preferably metallic, outer layers (4), when cutting the extruded profile (12) to length so as to form sandwich elements (13, 14, 15), in order to avoid scratches on the surfaces, caused by dust and swarf, there is arranged downstream of the cutting-to-length apparatus (5) a cleaning apparatus (6), by means of which the ends of the sandwich elements (13, 14, 15) are freed of dust and sawing swarf. <IMAGE>
