Improvements in rayon spinning machines

In centrifugal machines for spinning rayon formed in sections determined by frames 11 with pots or boxes 16 on both sides of the machine served by guide funnels 42, vertical traverse rods 34, reciprocated by mechanism 28 in an overhead trough 17, carry a bracket 37 supporting, by means of arms 39, a bar 41 on which the funnels are mounted. The bar 41 is connected by parallel linkage 43 with the bracket 37 so that the guide funnels may be initially removed vertically from the pots and then transversely, whereby they are housed within the bracket 37, as shown on the righthand side of Fig. 1, and protected from fouling by the cover 44 of the pot-housing 45 when it is removed. The traverse rods 34 pass through gland bearings 29 in the trough 17 and seals in the duct 50, and are protected from acid by telescopic shields 48, 49, 53. The bearings 29 serve as shields between the trough and fume ducts 47. At their lower ends the rods 34 are carried by bearings 35 provided with hoods 55 which serve as lubricant reservoirs, circulation of lubricant in the bearings being effected through suitable ports by the reciprocation of the rods 34. The shaft 24 which drives the reciprocating-mechanism 28 is driven at a variable speed, and the godets are driven by geared shafts 22 in the trough 17. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also adjustable slides mounted on the section frames for carrying the pot-driving motors, and lead protecting covers for the mounting of the godets. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
