Nucleic-acid fragments from eucaryotic genomes, method for their production and their use in the detection of restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs).

Nucleic acid fragments from eukaryotic genomes which are suitable for detecting restriction fragment lengths polymorphisms (RFLPs) in eukaryotic genomes are described. They can be obtained by screening a gene bank of a eukaryote with the NciI/ClaI fragment from the protein III gene of bacteriophage M13. They cause the binding of at least five times more recombinant DNA molecules in which they are contained to a target sequence with which they are homologous than a vector DNA to a target sequence with which it is homologous. Also described are methods for isolating these nucleic acid fragments.
