A gear in which the movable elements are respectively a ball chain 1 and a wheel 2, in the peripheral surface of which there are grooves in which the balls of the chain can engage, can convert a rectilinear movement into a rotary movement or vice versa. The wheel 2 is a cylindrical body, in the cylindrical surface of which there is a toothing which fits the ball chain 1, the teeth being helical in the axial direction with a pitch which is a multiple of the distance between two adjacent balls on the chain. The wheel 2 is mounted in a housing 3 with a through-groove which is in the form of a semi- cylinder, which fits the ball chain, and is positioned parallel to the axis of the wheel 2 and at a distance from the latter, which results in correct engagement of the ball chain 1 in the toothed wheel 2 and in the semi- cylindrical groove of the housing 3. <IMAGE> |
