The field of application of the invention is alternators for use in vehicles or in stationary motors. The aim of the invention is a high power rectifier unit with a small volume and optimum arrangement of the heat sinks. The excitation diodes are arranged such that good cooling and a high level of mechanical robustness are ensured. Two heat sinks which are in the form of annular segments and are bent along outer circular lines of different radii are arranged with the bends towards one another, with an optimum distance between them. Positive and negative diodes are fitted on the heat sinks. The excitation bridge is arranged in one section (in each case) of the heat sinks (which are in the form of annular segments) or bends and its chips are located on a sinuous basic electrode.
