In order, in a hydraulically controlled brake pressure control valve, to permit adjustment and damping of disturbing vibrations in different types of vehicle using simple means, the control piston (3) is designed as step piston, which is arranged in a guide sleeve (4), which can be screwed into the housing (1), the large circumferential surface of the control piston (3) having pressure equalising ducts (14), which connect the two faces (3.1, 3.2) to one another.
