An apparatus switching device having a safety inhibit and having at least one switching lever, which is normally in the disconnected position, for operating a switching profile for a switch. The technical problem is to design an apparatus switching device such that the holding function essentially requires no force to be exercised by the user, and such that a plurality of switching levers can be provided in conjunction with one safety inhibit. The safety inhibit comprises a safety lever (8) which is radially seated in a shaft (6) having an axial switching profile (36). The switching profile (36) interacts with a mating profile (39) on a safety slide (26). The safety slide (26) is coupled to a coupling element (47) which can rotate within the safety slide (26) but is held such that it cannot be displaced in the axial direction. The switching lever (21) has a switching hub (24) which can be engaged in a positively locking manner with the coupling element (47). The switching profile (54) has an operating hub (53) which is likewise constructed to engage in a positively locking manner with the coupling element. The shaft (6), the safety slide (26), the switching hub (25) and the operating hub (53) are arranged coaxially with respect to one another. <IMAGE>
