An auxiliary deflection coil has its axis parallel to the axis of a deflection coil of a cathode ray tube. A differentiation circuit detects the primary differential waveform of the video signal and its output is applied to an amplifier circuit. The amplifier output current is supplied to the auxiliary deflection coil so that the magnetic field produced by the coil is superimposed on the magnetic field of the horizontal deflection coil. The differentiating amplifying circuit includes a signal clamp comprising resistors and diodes. The amplifier output is not proportional to the differentiator output but is clamped to become a specified level when the latter output exceeds a predetermined levee.
