PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF ZEROVALENT NICKEL COMPLEXES

A process for the continuous production of a zero-valent nickel complex of formula Ni(L)4 comprises contacting an elemental nickel having a surface area of at least 800 Cm2/g in a reaction medium. The reaction medium comprises in percent by wt. based upon the wt. of the liquid in the reaction medium at least 50% L, at least 2% of an organic nitrile having 4-20 carbon atoms and at least 100 ppm Cl as an organochloridite. In the formula, L is neutral ligand of P(Z)3 [Z=OR or R; R= C1-18 alkyi or aryl .
