The invention relates to new fluorides of formulae: <IMAGE> in which X is equal to 0 or an integer from 1 to 10. These fluorides may be obtained by fluorolysis of chitosan or a polygalactosamine. The corresponding (1->4) bonded oligosaccharides can then be obtained by hydrolysis of these fluorides.
