A paper-like or cardboard-like raw material, containing inorganic fibres, particulate inorganic additives and organic binders or flocculators, is characterized in that 1) the particulate inorganic additives constitute 40-80 wt-% of the dry-matter content of the raw material, in that 2) the particulate inorganic additives comprise 2.1) a basic filler, at least 20 wt-% of which has a particle size below 2 microns and no more than 20 wt-% of which has a particle size above 20 microns and below 0.5 microns, and 2.2) an anionic pigment with a flocculating activity, of which at least 50% has a primary particle size below 2 microns, in that 3.1) the organic flocculating agent is a cationic polymeric carbohydrate with an average molecular weight of between 100,000 and 2,000,000 and a degree of substitution of between 0.01 and 0.3 and which is used in an amount of 0.5-6 wt-%, calculated on the dry-matter content of the raw material, in that 3.2), during the flocculate formation, 1000 g of the basic filler cannot bind more than 0.1 mmol, of the cationic carbohydrate, and 1000 g of the anionic pigment with a flocculating effect can bind at least 0.1 mmol of cationic carbohydrate during the flocculate formation.
