Filter made of ceramic having an open cell foam structure manufactured by impregnating a polymerisation foam with a ceramic slip which comprises a phosphate agglutinating agent, by separating the excess slip by pressure, by drying and calcining the foam material at temperatures of 1660 degree C or higher or, in the case of the same process, applying a slip which contains gelatinised aluminium hydroxide and the calcination thereof at at least 1093 degree C. Ceramic filters having an open cell foam structure are obtained; in this case the ceramic material is essentially phosphate-free and the individual crystals of the ceramic are firmly joined together by sintering. The filters are used for the filtering of metal melts and especially for the filtering of iron and steel melts.
|
