Bis (amine containing) benzoldioles are prepared by hydrogenation and dehalogenation of bis (amine containing) dihalogen -benzo-quinones using formic acid, formic salts, or mixtures thereof in the presence of a noble metal catalyst. An example of a compound produced by this method is 2, 5-diamino-1, 4-benzoldiol. Benzol-dioles produced by this invention method are useful as monomers for the preparation of polybenzoxazoles with high thermal stability and compression strength. |
