A rotating scraping knife, which is made of an elastic material, for an abrading device for skins which is provided with a continuously rotating cylinder comprises a central spindle hole 4 and a rotationally symmetrical plate-shaped part 7 which protrudes from the cylindrical frame 3 of the scraping knife. The cutting edges 5 of the scraping knife lie on the outer periphery 6 of the plate- shaped part 7 and have a triangular cross section. The front edges 10 of the cutting edges 5 are preferably at right angles to the plane which is at a tangent to the peripheral surface 6 at the points of the cutting edges 5, and the rear edges 11 form an angle of 5-20 degree with the corresponding plane. In addition, the cutting edges of the scraping knife are bevelled such that each cutting edge forms an angle of 20-30 degree with an axial plane. <IMAGE>
