<p>A surface-coated superhard member which has excellent resistances to abrasion, fusion and breakage as a cutting or abrasion-resistant tools in not only low-speed cutting but also high-speed cutting, thereby exhibiting excellent cutting performances over a prolonged period of time. The hard coating comprises layers of a carbide, a nitride or a carbonitride of Ti, Zr or Hf and layers of a carbide, a nitride or a carbonitride of Al, which are piled one upon another to form a coating laminate of at least ten layers in total.</p> |
