<p>A method of reducing the incidence of post-surgical problems in a mammal wherein growth hormone is administered to the individual for a period before and optionally after the operation such as an operation wherein an anastomosis is formed, a joint replacement or a skin grafting is disclosed. The administration of growth hormone increases the strength of an anastomosis and thus reduces the incidence of leakage or rupture and the mortality. The mammal to be treated is preferably a human being, and the growth hormone is preferably human growth hormone.</p> |
