Press felt composed of a base woven fabric and a flock layer 3 pinned thereto for a track press. The press felt has been manufactured so that the water flow resistance of the base fabric in the transverse direction of the felt and hence of the press is lower than in its longitudinal direction. This has been achieved, in particular, by using threads 2 with a larger diameter and/or with narrower thread interstices in the transverse direction of the machine than for the threads 1; 1a; 1b in the longitudinal direction of the machine. <IMAGE>
