Two switches 12, 14 mounted parallel to each other are connected by a switch mechanism 30 with a connection link 20 which ensures that one switch is disconnected before the other can be connected. The connection link 20 is cylindrical and is mounted in the extension of the handle shaft of one switch 12, with the axis of the cylinder principally coinciding with the axis of revolution of the handle shaft, and the output part 24 of the connection link is connected to the handle shaft 18 of the switch 12 - (not including operating handle). The input part 22 of the connection link is connected to or comprises an input shaft or shaft neck 51 for mounting the operating handle 16. In addition two tie bars 30-40 are fitted which cross each other and connect the pins lying diametrically opposite each other on the end surfaces 67, 68 of the connection link 20 with corresponding pins on the end surfaces of a transition link 42 mounted on the shaft 18 of the second switch 14. <IMAGE>
