<p>Protective overcoat compositions and photographic elements containing same comprise: (a) a water-soluble hydroxylated polymer; (b) a hydrolyzed metal lower alkoxide or mixtures thereof, with the proviso that when said hydrolyzed metal lower alkoxide is a tetrafunctional silicon lower alkoxide said hydrolyzed metal lower alkoxide comprises a mixture of said tetrafunctional silicon Power alkoxide with another hydrolyzed metal lower alkoxide that is not a tetrafunctional silicon lower alkoxide; and (c) a fluoroalkyl polyether surface active agent. The overcoat is transparent and flexible and provides protection against scratches and abrasion.</p> |
