Apparatus for de-icing aircraft were previously mounted as special-purpose lorries on lorry chassis or low-loaders which were stationed on the respective airfield. The operator sprayed the vehicle from a separate, usually hydraulic working basket which could be moved into an elevated position. Preferably for provisional airfields, especially in the military field, and for performing de-icing on small, permanent airfields it is necessary to provide a de-icing apparatus which is substantially smaller and lighter in weight and which can be easily transported to any desired place of use in the form of a container. For this purpose, the de-icing apparatus is accommodated within a self-bearing frame and has an internal combustion engine as its own power supply unit which on the one hand drives a generator for supplying all the electrical units and on the other hand drives a pump for supplying the hydraulically operated components. In addition, all the pipes conducting the de-icing agent, screws and valves are laid without sharp inner edges and with internal rounded portions which are as large as possible. <IMAGE> |
