The metallic membrane evaporation apparatus automaties aluminum pallet feeding by detecting the absolute position of a heater (11) with its shadow difference and controlling the detected signal. The evaporation apparatus comprises an evaporation tank (10) having the heater (11) for heating the aluminum pallets; an indexing table (90) for sequentially moving the tank along its circum ference; an aluminum pallet feeder equipped surrounding the indexing table; a pallet supply robot supplying the pallet from the feeder to the heater; a camera photographing the heater position; a computing unit computing the heater position fromthe signal transmitted by the camera; a control unit controlling the robot by use of the position signal from the computing unit.
