Novel Pseudomonas putida 1K1 KCTC 8441P is screened from water and soil of Han river. The 1K1 strain has high concentration toluene (about 50 %) and toluene decomposition activity. The 1K1 strain is useful for the treatment of industrial waste contg. aromatic organic compound. The aromatic organic compound is one or more mixt. of benzene, benzoate, phenol, cresol, toluene, xylene etc..
