PRODUCTION OF POROUS FORM

PURPOSE:To obtain a porous form markedly improved in production efficiency by wet treatment of polytetrafluoroethylene with a specific perfluorocarbon followed by dissolving the resultant polytetrafluoroethylene in said perfluorocarbon under heating, and then forming the gel. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, a polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) prepared by modifying PTFE with pref. <=2wt.% of a copolymer is put to wet treatment with a perfluorocarbon having a boiling point of >=170 deg.C. Then, the resultant PTFE is dissolved in said perfluorocarbon heated to its boiling point (i.e., >=170 deg.C) to form a PTFE gel, which is then formed to obtain the objective porous form.
